The Oriental Institute (since 2003 the Institute of Oriental and Classical Studies) was established at RSUH in 1994. The Institute of Oriental and Classical Studies conducts research in several directions, its task being the study of various types of ancient and medieval Oriental as well as the Classical and Hellenistic cultures, each of which is treated as a single complex of diverse fields of human activity: religious, artistic, literary, linguistic, mythological, socio-cultural, public and political. This study also involves comparative analysis of those cultures and, equally, analysis of their interaction with Western cultures. The IOCS develops both individual scholarly projects addressing specific academic problems and projects in which large academic units are engaged. |
